Housing is expensive in a lot of places - I see no way of getting away from that fact.

I'm not sure about interest rates. Predictions for when interest rates will increase largely point to Q3 or Q4 this year - but many of the same people who are making these forecasts were earlier predicting the increases to happen already.

Given that I don't know and can't hedge my exposure, I have simply decided to be ready to start diverting savings and other cash flow into early repayments on the mortgages a way of managing the risk. I'm currently going with a threshold rate of somewhere between 2.5 and 3.5% for triggering early repayments.

Interestingly, we have seen rises in some countries (e.g. Australia) already and the yields on some high grade long term debt securities have risen while the short end of the yield curve remains low.traineeinvestorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05179861120801348035noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-25714039.post-39543845129558212892010-04-20T10:58:05.836+08:002010-04-20T10:58:05.836+08:00Totally agree and many flaws.
I think its a ploy ...Totally agree and many flaws.

I think its a ploy to pour cold water on the housing market.

Do you think we will see any increase in interest by yr end?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
